Cross Roads comes near winning season

Cross Roads returned to UIL play in 2022 , posting a 4-5 record under coach Daniel Pierce .
The Bobcats answered the bell in the opener with a blow-out of All-Saints Episcopal , 54-18 .
Graham Story had a night to remember for the Bobcats . He had five touchdowns in the first half as Cross Roads roared to a 40-6 lead . On offense , he scored on three short runs and broke away from 70 yards out . Story picked a Trojan pass and cruised back 65 yards for another touchdown .
Story totaled 137 yards on 10 totes in the road win . Bub Latham was the top receiver , pulling in six catches for 87 yards , in the Bobcat ’ s most productive offensive night of the year .
Cross Roads slipped past Meridian in week two for another road win , beating the Yellowjackets 24-22 . Week three was another big offensive show , highlighted by Bub Latham ’ s 60 yard TD after picking off a bubble screen . The Bobcats won 42-20 for their third straight

Once district play began , Cross Roads had a tougher time with the likes o Italy and Cayuga , but thrilled the home crowd on senior night by upsetting Itasca 14-13 .
Cross Roads took an 8-0 halftime lead starting with a Bub Latham seven-yard touchdown run with 11 seconds left in the first half . Afterward , Story crashed across the goal line for a two-point conversion run .
Kerens clamped down on Cross Roads in the second half and surged ahead with three scores .
Kerens intercepted a Cross Roads pass in the end zone with 3:04 left in the game to secure Kerens ’ 20-8 win .
Looking back on the season , Pierce senior , Latham for his performance and other key members of the 2022 team .
Senior Josh Vasquez , was a major contributor in the offensive line . Josh Perkins shone well in action as a linebacker and running back .
