The Brownsboro Bears 2-8 record is not indicative of the team ’ s ability to move the ball .
Coach Lance Connot ’ s team had some heartbreaking losses along the way , but averaged just under 30 points-per-game . Three of the Bear ’ s defeats were by a touchdown or less .
The Bears scored 102 points in losses to Athens , Mabank and Bullard .
Senior quarterback Jaxyn Rogers often flipped the ball to juniors Gekyle Baker and Dylan Downey for big gains . Rogers had a great career at Brownsboro and will be missed when he moves on from the blue and gold . “ I love and appreciate our seniors , and our staff appreciates the support we have had from the community “ Bears Coach Lance Connot said .
Brownsboro opened at Athens and took a quarter and a half to get the offense warmed up in a 34-27 loss . After that , they were hard for the Hornets to stop . Athens was able to turn back Brownsboro in the game ’ s final minutes as a fourth down swing pass , in Athens ’ territory , fell incomplete .

In the week two 43-20 win over the Fairfield Eagles , Rogers threw for 316 yards , while running back Antrone Campbell ran for 129 .
One of the toughest losses had to be in week three when Mabank rallied to beat the Bears 42- 41 behind a 30 point third quarter . In the fourth quarter , Brownsboro mounted a last minute attack . With : 05 left , they had one snap remaining . Jaxyn Rogers took a 5-step drop , climbed the pocket and heaved his team ’ s hope toward the end zone . The prayer was not answered as a Mabank defender batted it away .
Brownsboro ’ s final win came Sept . 16 , at home against Spring Hill , 49-28 .
The Bears threw for 309 yards in securing the win . They averaged 7.2 yards on the ground , in a 123 yard performance .
On Oct . 7 , the Bears took their show to Bullard . Brownsboro jumped ahead 14-7 after the first quarter , but trailed at intermission , 21-14 . The third quarter belonged to the Bears and the two teams entered the final period knotted up . The Panthers outscored Brownsboro in the fourth and won 35-34 .
