The Veterinary Medical Center of Athens brings more than 75 years of experience and they say “ we live in the community , not off the community .”
Not only have they been offering veterinary medical services since 1972 , they also support many nonprofits in the community , including the United Way and the East Texas Arboretum . They also support the Athens Chamber of Commerce and the Cain Center .
Dr . John M . Morton graduated from Texas A & M University in 1969 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine . He followed that with an internship in Mt . Pleasant and then chose to open his own veterinary practice in Athens in January 1972 . His son , Dr . James Morton , also now practices at the clinic .
The Veterinary Medical Center has won Best Groomer and Best Veterinarian in the Athens Daily Review Reader ’ s Choice Contest many consecutive times .
