Everyone has the right to die. As long as they are not impedding on anyone's rights. Especially if a patient is suffering at the end of their life, it does not make sense that they should suffer.
The slipper slope to legalized murder is always very controversial when debating assisted suicide. Legalizing assisted suicide is nothing like doomsday or year 2K, where people kill themselves and the ones who did not realize the next day that everything is the same. We are discussing the legalization of assisted suicide based on terminally ill patients who are not going to get better.
Health care is in place to help assist humans when they need medical attention, as well as prolong their life for as long as possible. This is not necessarily the best thing to do, if you are prolonging someones life in a non natural way it can create different ailments. Humans are only able to live for so long, if you prolong their live with non natural medicine why are we suppose to wait to die naturally instead of speading up the processs of death with medicine if the patients does not wish to proceed with life.
Another major argument in the debate of assisted suicide is that the government is saving money and this will assist others due to how much is spent in end of life care. This is false, there is always going to be end of life care, even if a small portion of people decide to take part in assisted suicide. Killing humans to assist other humans posses to gain at all, therefore this argument against assisted suicide is more or less invalid.
In conclusion I believe that everyone should have their own choice at the end of their life. It is their life, their choice, at the end of their life! I would not have it any other way.
