ABOVE: THE CENTRE FOR DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY TAKES SHAPE

An exciting centre of innovation takes shape

The Centre for Design and Technology will be a centre of innovation, where boys will discover new possibilities in the rapidly progressing fields of design and technology, and engineering. Learning will occur through collaboration and experimentation in both traditional skills and emerging processes. In state-of-the-art workshops and design studios, our boys will develop skills in design, testing and refinement that are essential to every field of enterprise.
The Kane Construction team has made great progress with the project:
• The structure and roofing, plaster sheeting to the walls of Ground, Level 1 and Level 2, and the rough-in of services to all floors are complete. External walls have been installed, and cladding and lift installation have both commenced.
• The building is expected to be fully operational in 2018.
The Centre for Design and Technology will be opened at an official ceremony next February, where the building’ s name will be revealed.
Since the Capital Campaign for the Sir Zelman Cowen Centre for Science successfully concluded in 2015, more than 300 generous members of the Scotch Family have supported the Building Fund, by committing $ 11 million to support the development of the Centre for Design and Technology.
This support to date is a glowing endorsement of the leadership of the school and its strategic plan. Another $ 14 million is sought to deliver the next much needed elements of the Development Plan.
So much at Scotch has been achieved through the generosity of the Scotch Family. The School Council, the Principal and the Scotch College Foundation – with the support of the Old Scotch Collegians’ Association – are committed to this next exciting development of Scotch’ s facilities. I hope you will join us in continuing the momentum of the Engaging Curious Minds campaign, and that you will generously support the Centre for Design and Technology.
