An involvement with OSCA is an excellent way to stay connected with the school that you have grown to know so well and with the friends you have made along the way, and to mix and share stories with the lads from other years. You all have one key thing in common: you attended Scotch. Old Boys can stay engaged with their fellow alumni and with their school through the OSCAnet website and other forms of social media. When an Old Boy 66 registers his details on the OSCAnet website, he will be able to: • connect with friends from Scotch • read about and register for upcoming reunions and events • keep up to date with important information via the OSCAnet ENewsletter, news alerts and social media • post and share photos and announcements with our community, and • participate in various online competitions with great prizes up for grabs. Old Boys can also add their business details to OSCAnet, and post or look for a job within our directory. It’s very easy To register, all you need to do is head to www.oscanet.com.au and click on the 'Never registered before? Register' link in the login on the right and enter your details to update your details, to search for and get in contact with fellow Old Scotch Collegians, and to find out everything you need to know about OSCA’s clubs and branches. The OSCA office really looks forward to hearing from you, so that you can share your latest news with us. If you have any problems logging in to OSCAnet, or if you have a story or a photo you would like to share, please feel free to contact the OSCA office on 9810 4302. Perelberg Award shared for the first time For the first time, the Perelberg Award – granted each year to awardees who show ‘exemplary Scotch spirit' – has been shared. The joint winners of the 2016 Perelberg Award are Ian Carson (’76) and Sam Taubert (’06). The Perelberg Award is named in honour of Ashley Perelberg (’92), who died in 1993 while training during his first year at university. The award is granted one year to a current student, or to one who left during the previous year, and the next year to an Old Scotch Collegian. Last year the award was won by School Vice Captain, Tom Anderson (’15); this year, Old Scotch Collegians were eligible for the award. Ian Carson and his wife Simone founded Second Bite in 2005 to recover food destined to be discarded as rubbish, and distribute it to welfare agencies. Operating first out of the couple’s car, Second Bite has grown into a substantial nationwide food distribution activity. Ian is a founding partner and chairman of partners of PPB Advisory. He has been instrumental in turning around organisations in crisis, and helping clients to protect their financial positions and reputations. He was a board member of the Preston and Northcote Community Hospital from 1992 to 1996. Ian Great Scot Number 149 – December 2016 and Simone Carson’s son, Hugo, is in Year 11 at Scotch. While at Scotch in 2004, Sam Taubert had to suspend his studies to undergo lifesaving surgery, including a heart transplant
