Junior School HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL STRINGS, AMBERLEY BREMNER, WITH YOUNG PERFORMERS SO MUCH TO STRING ABOUT! Scotch’s strings program strives to support the whole boy 14 Great Scot Number 157 – September 2019 With 165 Junior School boys learning strings, the music department is constantly buzzing. Scotch boys have the opportunity to start learning a string instrument from Prep – violin, viola, cello or double bass. String instrument makers (luthiers) create small instruments specifically designed for students of this age. It’s a wonderful time to engage in music, heightening language, memory, attention, coordination and social skills while developing a lifelong love of music. The Scotch strings program is sequential, supporting and encouraging not only the musical individual, but the social, personal wellbeing and academic potential of every individual. Scotch boys are encouraged to participate in solo and ensemble music making, within school and the wider community.
