OSCA Annual Dinner 2018:
‘A huge success’
MR SCOTT MONTGOMERY
('85) OSCA EXECUTIVE
DIRECTOR
We are Scotch Collegians all, And we rally at the call, As our fathers
and our brothers used to do …
YOUNG OLD BOYS WITH THE HON. JULIE BISHOP
The 2018 OSCA Annual Dinner was a huge success,
with more than 440 Old Boys and guests thoroughly
enjoying the well-informed and enlightening address by our
Guest of Honour, Australia’s then Foreign Minister, the Hon.
Julie Bishop MP.
Master of ceremonies, current Scotch parent Gareth
Boreham, conducted the ‘Calling of the Years’, with the
oldest Old Boy present – Geoff Tolson (’39) – eventually
standing alone to sustained applause. Geoff is a former
OSCA president (1983) and he warmly complimented OSCA
on a most successful dinner.
OSCA President Andrew Crawford (’89), officially
welcomed all present and proposed the toast to the School.

Tom Sutherland (’17) became the youngest-ever performer
of the Haggis Ceremony, his drama background shining
through and earning the praise of our Guest of Honour
and all present. OSCA Chaplain Graham Bradbeer’s grace
was poignant and reflected on the importance of men’s
health. The school songs were again a highlight, with Old
Boys young and old belting out Loch Lomond and the other
school songs with plenty of passion and great gusto under
Scotch Director of Music, John Ferguson’s baton.
School Principal Tom Batty’s address was, as always,
fun, enlightening and delivered in an engaging way, much
to the enjoyment of Old Boys and guests. Tom thanked the
Old Boys for their continued support of the School.
