Based on Victor Hugo’s novel Les
Misérables reminds us that despite
class, wealth and politics, we are all
part of the same human family, with a
desire for those great French ideals:
liberty, equality and fraternity. Across
the world audiences continue to be
moved by Les Misérables, and with
each new audience the magic and
power of the show continue to grow.
Les Misérables opened on London’s
West End in 1985 and then on Broad-
way two years later. Nominated for 12
Tony Awards and winning eight, Les
Misérables has since been performed
in more than 40 countries and trans-
lated into 21 different languages.
