HIKERS’ GREAT SUPPORT
FOR INDIGENOUS
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The state forest near Woodend echoed
to the glad shouts of the 118 boys and two
staff who participated in the 24 Hour Hike on
7 and 8 March — and through sponsorship
the hikers raised approximately $30,000 for
Scotch’s Indigenous Scholarship Program.
Well supported by 22 boys and 13 staff,
led by TIC, Mr Keith Oatley, the boys and two
staff — Ms Kerrie Ardley and Mrs Emma Gates
— hiked an average distance of 61.1km.
Tamar Stafford (Year 11) repeated his 2018
feat as overall winner of the 2019 hike, joined
this year by Harry Shao — both boys covered
112.1km and were the only hikers to top 100km
this year. The boys each received the Andrew
Kelso Award.
The Year 9 trophy, awarded to the boys
from that year who covered the furthest
distance, went to twin brothers Alexi and
Lorenzo Ryan, who each hiked 80.2km.
From this year, the Year 9 award has been
