SUMMER EMG COCKTAILS
PERFECT VENUE FOR AN ENJOYABLE EVENT
The Peter Henderson (’ 57 ) Foyer and Atrium of the Sir Zelman Cowen Centre for Science was an ideal venue for the East Melbourne Glen Chapter ’ s Summer Cocktail Party , on the warm evening of Wednesday 15 February .
Piped in by Brian Symington (’ 65 ), the 55 EMG members and guests appreciated the opportunity to attend this event again .
Foundation Executive Director , Tim Shearer (’ 85 ) welcomed guests , and handed over to Foundation President Doug Lording AM (’ 64 ), who referred to a recent Herald Sun article in which Scotch topped a fundraising table . Doug said Scotch is a fortunate school , and certainly the envy of others . However he also mentioned how disappointing it was that girls ’ schools lagged behind in funding .
Host , EMG Chairman , Ken Jasper AM (“ 55 ) spoke of his schooldays , referring in particular to much-loved former Vice Principal Frank ‘ Faf ’ Fleming (’ 25 ), who was an influential and inspiring figure up on the Hill during Ken ’ s days as a boarder .
Guests enjoyed getting together in such pleasant surroundings , many taking advantage of the opportunity to sit in conversational groups on the bench seating around the foyer ’ s perimeter . They also enjoyed a delicious selection of canapes .
