BUSY YEAR AHEAD FOR WINE AND FOOD CLUB

FIFTY MEMBERS AND GUESTS ENJOY FIRST 2022 EVENT
After an interrupted two years , the Old Scotch Wine and Food Club gathered at Royal South Yarra Tennis Club on Thursday 24 February to taste a selection of wines from the Kirby Family vineyards of Yabby Lake and Heathcote Estate . Rupert Steenberg , General Manager of Joval Family Wines , gave over 50 members and guests a wonderful introduction to Mornington Peninsula and Heathcote wines , with the noise and laughter testament to the good time had by all .
This promises to be a busy year for our wine and food lovers , with functions
organised with Henschke Wines , Shaw and Smith and other great wineries . Our functions take the form of sit down tastings or dinners where wines are matched to the food . With the hardworking efforts of all committee members , the club is continuing to grow and gain in popularity . Club membership is open to all members of the Scotch Family . To enquire about activities or membership , please contact the club : oswfc @ outlook . com .

FOOTBALL CLUB ’ S FIRST CENTURY WELL CELEBRATED

A once in a hundred years event at the MCG
The Old Scotch Football Club ’ s Centenary Dinner on the evening of Friday 4 March at the MCG was an unqualified success , and ultimately took place despite two earlier attempts in the actual centenary year of 2021 – both thwarted by COVID .
The dinner , which included the 2022 season launch , was held in the plush surroundings of the MCC Members ’ Dining Room , and attended by 350 players , members , partners , supporters and sponsors , including a large contingent of current and recently-retired players . Guests were piped in by Geoff Courtis (’ 66 ).
There was regret at the inability to attend the dinner of some long-term club supporters , and luminaries such as two of the authors of the club history , Fighting for the Cardinal Gold and Blue , John Bell (’ 60 ) and Geoff McCracken (’ 65 ), but co-author Bruce Brown (’ 60 ) was there to represent them and enjoy the festivities .
