TARTAN FESTIVAL MAKES A WELCOME COMEBACK
All things Scottish take centre stage as festival resumes
The Scots are coming to town ! After two long years , the skirl of pipes will again echo through the streets and laneways of Melbourne from 3 to 23 July during the Melbourne Tartan Festival .
In the lead-up to the festival , the Westin Whisky dinner will be held on Friday 17 June . Westin Melbourne ’ s Executive Chef has created a five-course menu , matched to five premium single malt whiskies from some of the world ’ s finest distilleries . On 10 July , Scotch ’ s Pipes and Drums and Old Scotch Pipes and Drums will participate in the massed pipe band Melbourne Tartan Day Parade on Collins Street , commencing at 2pm . There will be
CBD pop-up events , as well as dancing and music displays in Gordon Reserve on Spring Street , Melbourne , from 11am to 1pm .
The Gala Dinner and Concert , always the premier event of the festival , will be held in the majestic main hall of the Melbourne Town Hall on Saturday 23 July , and will feature a seasonally inspired three-course gourmet menu and drinks . Dancing will be to the music of the City of Melbourne Highland Pipe Band , Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club , Highland Dancers and Celtic rock group Claymore .
