About 90 members of the East Melbourne Glen Chapter and their guests met for cocktails and canapés in the very pleasant surroundings of the Keon-Cohen Dining Hall at Scotch on the balmy late summer evening of 17 February , hosted by EMG President , Ken Jasper AM (’ 55 ).
Ken Jasper welcomed members and guests , expressing the relief felt by all present that they could meet again as a group after so much separation and isolation caused by the COVID pandemic , and thanking the EMG members for their unwavering support for Scotch .
He pointed out that he had been specially provided with a footstool to enable him to speak on equal terms with the very tall Scotch Foundation President , Associate Professor Doug Lording AM (’ 64 ), who also attended the event . To the amusement of the group , Doug then stood on the footstool himself , exponentially elevating his height .
Speaking to the group , Doug reiterated Ken Jasper ’ s thanks to EMG members for their unstinting support , and welcomed several Old Boys who were attending their first function as EMG members .
Foundation Bequest Manager , Sandra Dick said she was looking forward to welcoming members and partners to the EMG Easter Chapel Service on 5 April , the Winter Luncheon on 15 June , and the Christmas Luncheon on 16 December .
Guests mingled inside and outside the Keon-Cohen Dining Hall , enjoying the opportunity to meet and greet each other after the COVID-enforced separation of the previous two years . Thanks go to Sandra Dick and Foundation Coordinator , Rebecca Mortimer , for organising a most successful and thoroughly enjoyable event .
