and Toby McOmish ( Year 12 ) in the 50 metres butterfly , with a time of 25.86 seconds . The open 4 x 50 metres butterfly and freestyle relay teams also broke school records , and several Scotch boys also broke APS records on finals night . This included Toby McOmish in the open 50 metres freestyle , the under 14 4 x 50 metres freestyle , breaststroke and backstroke relay teams , and also the open 4 x 50 metres freestyle and backstroke relay teams . Tom Roach ’ s ( Year 8 ) performance in the individual 50 metres freestyle , backstroke and breaststroke in the multiclass events was also a feature of the evening .
In the diving pool , Captain Zach Hutchings won the APS open boys ’ A final . He scored an impressive 212.50 points from his four dives , which was 35 points ahead of his nearest competitor . Lachlan Gumley ( Year 8 ) finished fourth in the under 14 A final , and Jack Collins ( Year 8 ) on limited preparation finished third in the B final . Our squad finished sixth overall .
The 1st Table Tennis team enjoyed a recent resurgence with four wins and two losses , to finish third , after losing to the dominant Haileybury and Wesley teams . A key feature of our team this year is the many young members participating in the open team . The
future is bright for this group as we look to close the gap with the top teams . The badminton team performed consistently this season with six wins and three losses . Our Captain , Ethan Li , was our standout performer , winning most of his matches .
The 1st XI Cricket team had some significant highlights and finished the season strongly to finish in third place with seven wins and three losses . Captain , William Townsend , has been absolutely superb , raising the bat on four occasions with unbeaten innings of 109 , 146 and 131 , and in his last innings for the school , 124 . Amazingly , he scored a total of 685 runs for the season at an average of 97.86 . Orlando Pender ( Year 11 ) was the pick of the bowlers with regular wickets , and Lachlan Francis ( Year 11 ) had excellent figures of six wickets for 25 runs against Wesley .
The 1st VIII Tennis team performed extremely well , winning six games and losing four . Jack Ganly ( Year 12 ) was again the standout performer , and a clear feature each week was the consistent performance of our doubles teams . Futsal won three games and lost four to finish sixth . The highlight of the season was arguably our 6-4 victory against rivals , St Kevin ’ s . Lucas Green ( Year 11 ) was regularly
