PIPES AND DRUMS PREPARE FOR FINAL COMPETITIONS
Grammar . Both Scotch bands performed well , winning the overall titles in their respective grades – novice A and novice B . One week later the Scotch boys competed on a blustery day at Haileybury . With a cold wind , conditions were more reminiscent of Scotland trips of old ; however , both bands again delivered strong performances , winning the overall titles in their respective grades .
With the local competition season feeling as if it was just beginning , we had the final competition – the Victorian State Pipe Band Championships – on a hot , sunny day in Eastfield Park , Croydon . The Scotch
Number 1 Band delivered two respectable performances in hot conditions , but lost the title this time to Haileybury in the novice A grade . The Scotch Number 2 Band delivered its best performance of the season to claim the title of Victorian champions in the novice B grade .
In congratulating the boys for their successful local season our attention turns to some public performances in the immediate future , and ultimately returning to competitive action at the Australian National Pipe Band Championships in October .
