in our best players , and Edward Manderson ( Year 12 ) defended strongly in goals .
The touch football team was highly competitive , but despite going close on several occasions , was unable to win any games for the season . Our boys certainly tried hard , but just lacked a bit of poise at critical times . The 1st Red and Blue Squash teams enjoyed a positive season and worked hard on their games , finishing third and fourth in the schools competition . We look to the future to help grow numbers back into the sport , as they have declined across all schools in recent years .
Scotch fielded six teams in the APS lawn bowls competition , with three teams reaching the quarter finals and one team making it through to the semi-finals . The Scotch D team was the best performed overall and lost in an extra end to finish fourth .
The Scotch orienteering squad competed enthusiastically over the eight-week season , finishing second in the schools section of the competition . Camberwell Grammar School retained the Slade- Wilson Trophy , winning with 976 points to Scotch ’ s 681 . Outstanding individual performances for Scotch over the season included our
Captain , Spencer Kelsey , who finished third in the A grade ( 10km ) grade , and Jeremy Le ( Year 9 ) who finished third in the C grade ( 6km ) competition .
The Scotch Sailing team travelled to Mornington Sailing Club to compete in the Victorian Schools Sailing Championships in April . The Firsts team , led by Thomas Johnston and Thomas Warner , performed exceptionally in the qualification rounds in the first two days in heavy winds . Unfortunately , we struggled to adapt to the lighter winds in the finals races and finished fifth in the championship . The Seconds performed more consistently to finish fourth in their division .
Our cyclists performed well in the Victorian Interschool Cycling series . Alex Jones ( Year 12 ) was our best performed cyclist , with regular top three placings in competition , including overall first position in the senior A grade series . Jamieson Graves ( Year 11 ) finished third in the senior C grade series . Our golf squad again made progress , winning most fixtures against Trinity Grammar and St Kevin ’ s at Kew Golf Club . The boys will select our strongest team in recent history to compete in early May in the APS / AGS invitational event .
