Concerto No 3 by Saint-Saëns and , after the interval , Dvorak ’ s glorious Symphony No . 8 . The three soloists for the violin concerto ( one for each movement ) were Lachlan Chen ( Year 11 ), Geoff Liu ( Year 9 ) and Leon Fei ( Year 11 ) respectively .
The final concert for the year was on Wednesday 8 December . Owing to lockdowns , the choirs had not had the time to learn a program of Christmas sacred
music , so the College Choir , Chamber Choir and Cambiata , in conjunction with Academy Strings , presented a Christmas Concert in lieu of the Carol Service .
It included a lovely performance of Cradle Hymn by Arnesen for Chamber Choir and Strings , and the full choir performing a dazzling arrangement of When the Saints . Academy Strings , under Benjamin Castle , performed Corelli ’ s Christmas Concerto and the evening concluded with community carols , led by Andrew Hunter . It was a popular format , and provided a fitting end to the year .
