Noonan ( born 12.2.1905 , SC 1916-19 , died 8.5.1985 ) and Albert Jeffery Noonan ( born 26.10.1908 , SC 1921-23 , died 25.11.1968 ) and son Andrew ( SC 1980-83 ).
In 1959 Trevor graduated from Dookie Agricultural College ( of which he was Vice Captain ) with a Diploma of Agriculture .
At Shepparton on 14 May 1960 , Trevor married his life partner , Clare Erryl ( Erryl ) Gerrard . In 1972 they purchased , then operated , a successful family business , Noonan ’ s Showcase Jewellers , in Cobram . In 1996 it was taken over by their son Andrew and daughter-in-law Catherine , who continue to run it .
Trevor served as a member , and then President , of the Cobram Shire Council ( 1973-83 ). In 1994 he was appointed by the Victorian State Government as the Commissioner to the Moira Shire .
A passionate member of his community , Trevor was an active member of the Rotary Club of Cobram from 1985 until his death . In 1990 and 2016 he was the Cobram and Moira Shire ’ s ( respectively ) ‘ Citizen of the Year ’ for his community contributions .
Perhaps one of Trevor ’ s proudest achievements was the founding of Cobram ’ s first private school , Christ the King Anglican College , ( now Cobram Anglican Grammar ). Trevor was its founding Chairman , serving the school from 2000 until his retirement in 2019 .
In June 2018 Trevor received the Order of Australia medal for his dedication and services to the community .
Trevor died on 12 April 2021 at the Cobram District Hospital after a battle with cancer . He is survived by his wife Erryl , children Andrew and Michelle , daughterin-law Catherine , son-in-law Steve , and grandchildren James , Lily , Rebecca , Thomas and Matthew .
Trevor was greatly loved by his family and community , and is missed just as much .
ROBINSON , Ian Russell (’ 57 ) Ian ’ s son , David (’ 85 ), wrote :
Ian was born at Melbourne on 15 October 1940 . He attended Trinity Grammar School ( 1947-51 ) and then Scotch from 1952 to 1957 as a member of Gardiner ( later Gilray ) House . Ian was involved with Scouts , and played tennis , for which he was known as an accomplished player .
Also at Scotch were his brother David ( SC 1952-63 ), sons James ( SC 1975-83 ), David ( SC 1975-85 ) and Michael ( SC 1977-88 ), nephews Andrew ( SC 1990-95 ) and Stuart Robinson ( SC 1992-97 ), and great-nephew Ben Robinson ( Year 7 ).
Ian graduated from Pharmacy College in 1962 and purchased his first pharmacy in 1964 . In conjunction with his brother , he owned I . R . & D . M . Robinson pharmacies in Glen Waverley and Tooronga Village in East Hawthorn . He produced his own compounds for cough syrup , and for Robinson ’ s Nappy Cream .
On 30 January 1965 Ian married Jillian Marjory ( Jill ) Bryant . In addition to their sons they had a daughter , Anna , who attended St Catherine ’ s School .
Ian was an avid golfer playing at both Commonwealth and Royal Melbourne Golf Clubs . He was a keen supporter of the Hawthorn Football Club , being a member for over 75 years , and he enjoyed taking his family to the footy .
His big passion was horse racing , and he was thrilled to be made a life member of the VRC for having over 50 years of membership , and also for horse ownership . He loved a punt , and always put on a quadrella each Saturday .
Joke-telling was one of Ian ’ s greatest skills . He had the ability to turn the bad jokes into great ones , and would leave people cringing or laughing .
He led by example and instilled in his children terrific family values , work ethics and a strong empathy . Ian taught his children how to kick the footy , and play
cricket and tennis , and also household skills such as chopping wood and splitting kindling .
Ian and Jill enjoyed foreign travel , but mostly spent a lot of time between Noosa and their house in Lorne .
After a long illness , Ian died on 21 May 2021 at Cabrini Hospital , Malvern .
ROGERS , John William (’ 71 ) John ’ s brother , David (’ 80 ), wrote :
John was born at St Andrew ’ s Hospital , East Melbourne , on 27 February 1954 , the first son of David William and Janette Leslie ( nee Christian ) Rogers . He attended Scotch from 1962 to 1971 as a member of Gilray House , of which he was a 1971 Prefect . Also at Scotch were John ’ s brothers James ( SC 1967-78 ) and David ( SC 1972-80 ), Christian and Thomson cousins , and his uncle Kenneth Leslie Christian ( born 16.5.1923 , SC 1935-38 , died 3.3.2013 ). John ’ s sister is Mandy Yencken .
Also known by peers as Roy , John was a gifted sportsman who played in the 1970 and 1971 1st XIs under coach and teacher John Gould Miles ( born 5.3.1930 , staff 1954-76 , died 29.12.2010 ). John played in the premiership 1970 and 1971 1st XVIIIs alongside the great John Hendrie ( SC 1968-71 ), whom John often recounted kicking a goal from the centre square of the Main Oval .
John enjoyed sporting , dramatic and musical activities at Scotch . Of his performance in the 1971 play The Boyfriend , Satura wrote that John ‘ really stole the show ’.
A popular boy at Scotch , this was officially recognised in 1970 when John was crowned ‘ Mr Scotch College ’. A Satura article quoted John saying , ‘ I ’ m sure that never again , in my life , will I achieve a title such as this one ’.
His prize was a smorgasbord at the tuckshop , delivered by the famous Mrs
