although not the flights themselves , given that the couple has four young children .
After Scotch , ROBIN TSUI (’ 99 ) studied at Melbourne University before taking a year off to work at an Australian bank as part of a one-year internship program . After graduating he began a graduate program with one of the big four accounting firms before moving back to Hong Kong where his parents are based . Robin is currently a commodity strategist at a US-based asset management firm .
He enjoys getting together with friends in Hong Kong , and he has taken on a few adventurous hobbies such as snowboarding , wake surfing and scuba diving . He told Great Scot : ‘ Prior to the pandemic I made occasional trips back to Melbourne , and I do miss the weather , the coffees , the phos ( Vietnamese noodles ) and the meat pies .’ Robin is hoping Hong Kong will ease travel restrictions soon and looks forward to getting back to the mountains in 2022 .

2000s

VORAPONG VADHANASINDHU (’ 04 ) joined Thailand ’ s Foreign Ministry in 2014 , and has been posted to the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kunming , China , since 2018 . In Kunming he is in charge of the Consular Section , with responsibilities including protection of and assistance for Thai nationals in the area , as well as passports , visas , civil registrations and legalisation , and he also serves as the Consulate ’ s Head of Chancery . Earlier he was the Political and Economic Consul , and then Cultural and Education Consul .
Prior to his posting abroad , Vorapong worked on issues including disarmament , the Sustainable Development Goals , and in the American and South Pacific Department as Executive Assistant to the Director- General . Before embarking on his diplomatic career , he completed a UN internship in Bangkok , and spent a year each at Thailand ’ s National Security Council and National Economic and Social Development Council , two of the government ’ s key policymaking agencies .
Vorapong has enjoyed serving and representing his country internationally , especially in China at this significant time . He has also found consular work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic an invaluable learning experience .
The last 18 months have been very eventful for DAVID JONSON (’ 07 ). Most significantly , David and his partner , Ka Mun , have become engaged and have settled in Preston with their cat , Milo .
David is a human resources adviser in the Victorian Public Service after starting his career as a generalist graduate . He has also had some once-in-a-lifetime experiences as a Lieutenant in the Australian Army Reserve , including Troop Command on Exercise Talisman Sabre and serving on Operations Bushfire and COVID-19 Assist as a Logistics Officer .
David ’ s favourite subjects from Scotch are still with him . ‘ I have started learning German and Chinese again , and hope to use them on travel soon ,’ he told Great Scot . ‘ I remain a compulsive reader of history , which Dr Mark Johnston inspired me to study at Melbourne and Georgetown Universities ’. David says there is only one negative aspect to his life : ‘ the disappointment of supporting Carlton on winter days at the MCG ’.

2010s

After finishing at Scotch , NICK WOOD (’ 12 ) studied Architecture at Deakin , achieving a Master of Architecture in 2019 . During this time , he worked at a warehouse in St Albans for a few years and then at an architecture firm for four years . He now works at an engineering firm , also doing some freelance architecture work .
Nick lives at Alphington near the river , which suits his interest in nature . He loves hiking : ‘ The best places I ’ ve hiked have been Sweden and hiking solo across the Lofoten Islands in Norway back in 2016 ,’ Nick told Great Scot . ‘ Since then I have been to many areas closer to home , and found a passion for hiking in the winter snow . I also enjoy woodworking : I ’ ve made several pieces of furniture and I ’ ve done some wood carving more recently to entertain myself in lockdown . I love cricket and I ’ ve played at Croydon Cricket Club since 2012 .’
HENRY HINGE (’ 15 ), in partnership with 2015 classmate JOSH RICHARDS started a clothing business , TOM BARETT , which has seen significant revenue growth over the past 18 months . ‘ We sell all our garments online at tom-barett . com , which range from t-shirts , hoodies and crewnecks to accessories ,’ Henry told Great Scot .
‘ We originally used manufacturers from all over the globe , including from Canada , Portugal and China , but we now source our products from the UK , engaging a company that focuses strongly on sustainable and environmentally friendly manufacturing .’ There ’ s more information about sustainable manufacturing on TOM BARETT ’ s sustainability page , under ‘ About ’.
