EARLY SUCCESS FOR OLD SCOTCH CRICKET CLUB
Season finally starts for the young and the experienced
With the season finally underway , at the time of writing Old Scotch Cricket Club had already made its mark on the competition , with two strong wins to the 1st XI and the newly launched 3rd XI .
The enthusiasm of young blood has helped the 1st XI gain bonus points in both the first two games , with Cameron Hemp (’ 19 ) making 65 not out against MCC and Harrison Goad (’ 13 ) and William Bonwick (’ 16 ) tearing Old Trinity apart with three wickets for 19 and five for six , respectively . Sam Dawborn (’ 15 ) has also added strength to the top order .
The 2nd XI , although strong on paper and experience , have yet to hit their straps , having played two of the stronger sides , but will undoubtedly make their presence felt as the season progresses . Charlie Schilling (’ 18 ) and Tom Edney (’ 15 ) have led the way with the bat .
The 3rd XI has brought great enthusiasm and wisdom to the club , along with fatherson combinations , John (’ 81 ) and Ben Lloyd (’ 18 ), Lachie (’ 85 ) and Will Fraser-Smith (’ 18 ) and Gary (’ 88 ), Nick (’ 20 ) and Joel Bennett ( Year 11 ). The 3rd XI is captained masterly by Paul ‘ Reg ’ Lund and managed by David Polmear (’ 80 ) and John Lloyd . David Polmear ’ s 75 not out and three for nine in the first game of the season against Old Caulfield / NCG and 68 by Santush Gunawardene (’ 16 ) against MHOB have been the stand-out performances so far .
