SOCCER CLUB LOOKS TO BUILD ON A SUCCESSFUL 2021 SEASON

THE CLUB ’ S EXCITING EXPANSION PLANS
The 2021 season , despite being impacted by lockdowns and being cut short due to COVID-19 , was one of many successes for the Old Scotch Soccer Club . The club hopes to build on the successes to ensure an even better season in 2022 .
The Seniors started the season in the State League 2 South-East division very strongly with 11 wins in a row , and finished the season on top of the ladder with an impressive average of 2.4 goals scored per game . What makes this result even more impressive is that , by the end of the season , the Seniors had played the teams that finished second , third , and fourth on the ladder , twice each .
A highlight of the season was the Seniors ’ performance against the famous Melbourne Knights in the FFA Cup , which also happened to be the debut Seniors game for Jett Beale ( Scotch ’ s 2020 Captain of Soccer ). The consistently strong performance of the Seniors this season shows great promise for next year .
Despite being one of the youngest teams , the Reserves similarly had a successful season , finishing in second place with a

commendable goal difference of 26 . A highlight of the season was the team ’ s 9-1 drubbing of Berwick City . Luke Clifford ( Scotch ’ s 2020 Vice Captain of Soccer ) played in the Reserves and trained with the Seniors .
Three of our four Sunday teams ( the Thirds , Blues , and Cardinals ) played in the Metropolitan League , which is the top Sunday league in Victoria . The teams each finished in the top six , with the Cardinals in third place , the Blues fifth , and the Thirds sixth . Each team had an impressive average of nearly 2.5 goals per game , which is not an easy feat in a league that involves older players who played at very high levels in their youth . Our fourth Sunday team , the Golds , finished its season in Metropolitan League 5 in ninth place .
Finally , our junior teams ( girls ’ under 13s , boys ’ under 11s , and boys ’ under 9s ) each had a great season with strong squad numbers and lots of enthusiasm and passion from the players and families . Our junior girls ’ team finished its season in ninth place .
Subject to COVID-19 , pre-season for 2022 will commence in mid- January 2022 at Scotch . The Old Scotch Soccer Club encourages Old Boys to join the club , and is delighted to announce that , in 2022 , the Old Scotch Collegians ’ Association will subsidise 50 per cent of the club membership fee for Old Boys of any age who are in their first year of playing at the club .
We are also excited to announce that the club is expanding and is hoping to launch an inaugural women ’ s team in 2022 . The club is currently seeking expressions of interest for players , sponsors , and volunteers .
Please email committee @ ossc . com . au for the answers to any queries , including in relation to pre-season , joining the club , and the women ’ s team .
