YEARS PEEL AWAY AS OLD BOYS GATHER AT KOOYONG

‘ GOOD VENUE , GOOD MEAL AND OUR MATES FROM “ YESTERYEAR ”’
Fifty-three members of the Scotch Classes of 1963 and 1964 gathered at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club for lunch on 26 November , in a reunion organised by Ian Marchment (’ 64 ).
The reunion was a great success . In true Scotch style , guests were piped in by Keith Heale , appropriately a member of the Class of 1963 , then settled down to enjoy a delicious lunch .
All participants were invited to provide a one-minute bio of their careers . Some Old Boys exceeded their allotted minute , prompting Ian to remark : ‘ Some of them obviously did not pass maths !’ Many recalled their challenges to get into university , and spoke of the twists and turns life had presented to them . Not all paths were academic , but all have had interesting journeys and successful careers .
David Temple (’ 63 ) commented : ‘ I thought the whole day went well , with a good venue , good meal and our mates from

" yesteryear ". All in all they are a remarkably diverse and talented group , and as the years go by it is important to stay in touch .’ Dave Kaufman (’ 63 ) said : ‘ It was a good venue , and it was fascinating to hear the one-minute , and some a lot longer , tales of life after school .’
In his OSCA President ’ s article in this edition , Andrew Wilson (’ 78 ) remarks that ‘ the role for OSCA Council is not about being all things to all people , or telling others what to do , but instead about addressing governance , providing direction and guidelines , encouraging and supporting , and saying thank you .’
Ian Marchment ’ s informal 1963 / 64 reunion is an excellent example of an event arranged outside OSCA ’ s auspices , but within the spirit of ‘ reasons to connect and ways to connect ’ which OSCA holds dear .
Ian hopes the 1963 / 64 reunion will become an annual event .

THREE CAPTAINS TOGETHER – ’ 35 , ’ 20 AND ’ 21

SCOTT MONTGOMERY (’ 85 )
Scotch School Captains from 2020 ( Will Dixon ’ 19 ) and 2021 ( Nik Tsourvakas ’ 20 ) joined OSCA Executive Director , Scott Montgomery (’ 85 ) and the Scotch Foundation ’ s Bequest Program Manager , Sandra Dick , to visit Scotch ’ s 1935 School Captain , Bill Morgan , for morning tea on Friday 19 November .
It was a privilege to visit Bill , who at 106 is Scotch ’ s oldest known living Old Boy . Also present was Bill ’ s son , John (’ 69 ).
At one point Bill learnt that Nik Tsourvakas has Greek origins , and he found an old Bible written in the Greek language . Nik read , in Greek , several extracts from this century-old Bible , which intrigued Bill and the other guests .
