OSCA

GETTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER

MR SCOTT MONTGOMERY (' 85 ) OSCA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
OSCA ’ s plans for a big 2022
THE OSCA PODCAST TEAM WITH GUEST JAMES ROOK (‘ 15 ) BELOW : JACK MANNING (‘ 20 ), SCOTT MONTGOMERY (‘ 85 ), JAMES
ROOK (‘ 15 ), LACHIE STRATHMORE (‘ 15 ), WILL DIXON (‘ 19 )
On Wednesday 3 November , much to our delight and relief , we were given the green light to return to OSCA House after the latest lockdown . I must admit it felt very surreal being back in the office . I think we are all relieved that a sense of normality has crept back into our lives , and the days of working at home in tracksuits and active wear are now behind us .
As an organisation , OSCA has continued to be positive and to keep our community engaged and connected . But it ’ s the strength of our alumni that
continues to shine . Examples include catch-ups over coffee to assist a young Old Boy , a Scotch running group seen jogging in the rain along Gardiners Creek , and the informal gatherings held in Perth , Melbourne and Hobart , reported in this edition of Great Scot , that give strength to us all .
The latest OSCA podcast with James Rook (’ 15 ), and his tales of exploits as coxswain in the Australian Olympic women ’ s eight at the recent Tokyo Olympics , was just terrific . It ’ s an inspiring story which is definitely worth a listen : he is a young man who has followed his passions , has overcome setbacks , and is driven and resilient . I am also extremely proud of the crew behind the scenes that allow such productions to take place , and become part of our offerings to our community .
The Young Old Boys continue to deliver and are really setting themselves up to build on what they have done
so far , as they look forward confidently to a big 2022 . Lachie Strathmore (‘ 15 ) and Mitch Bradley (‘ 10 ) have stepped down from their leadership posts , and we can ’ t thank them enough for their contributions to the YOBs ’ Committee . They will continue to assist , but the baton has been handed to Teddy Webster (’ 17 ) – President , and Will Dixon (’ 19 ) – Vice President .
Planning for 2022 has been a key focus ; in particular , how we can ‘ get the band back together ’. Reunions play a big part of this remit , and always have . Since OSCA ’ s very earliest days in 1913 we have organised countless reunions and functions which have enabled Old Boys to maintain or reignite old friendships from their schooldays . The calendar of events is now set , so please note them in your diary . Go to www . oscanet . com . au / events .
