made staff feel welcome with a warm and friendly greeting as they entered the sports and careers area . Rosie also assisted with the Indigenous Program , helping the boys transition to the School and always lending an encouraging word or smile when needed . Her infectious attitude and approach to her role made her one of our most popular and respected staff members , not only within Scotch College , but also the broader APS community .
It has been a pleasure to work with Rosie and also to see her develop her career . She leaves Scotch to pursue a law degree and work in the industry . We wish her the best of luck and know that the legal profession will be better for her impact and contribution . Stuart Powell
KATE LINDQUIST
First appointed to an English position at the start of 2012 , Kate Lindquist taught all levels of English . Generous of mind and time , and conveying the optimism and belief boys crave , Kate approached every aspect of her teaching with infectious enthusiasm and to good effect .
Kate inspired boys and cajoled to confer the self-belief that comes from progress . Boys were valued , well taught and appropriately affirmed .
Kate ’ s commitment to the boys in her care was very much evident in her roles as a Year 8 Form Teacher and , for three years , as an Academic Tutor on the Hill , where she forged strong relationships with the boys of Arthur Robinson and School Houses .
Away from classroom and boarding house , Kate contributed to the lives of boys as Athletics Coach ( two years ), Hockey Coach ( two years ), and Tennis Coach ( four years ). Kate also accompanied boys to Wilsons Promontory as part of the Year 9 Outdoor Expedition and assisted with ski trips to Mt Hotham .
For the past three years , Kate was Editor of the Collegian , ensuring it maintained its reputation as a flagship school publication . Her eye for detail and dexterity in matching image , text , mood and theme , have had boys , staff and parents page turning
in anticipation , whilst ensuring each comprehensive , accurate chronicle captured the colour and vibrancy of its generation .
JAMIE MARTIN
Joining the English department for the start of 2017 , Jamie Martin taught English to boys in Years 9 to 12 and Literature to boys in Years 11 and 12 . All interactions have been premised on a strong work ethic and a passion for , and deep knowledge of , his subject .
Beyond the classroom , Jamie has been a sensitive and committed tutor in Morrison for each of his five years , assisting boys navigating the throes of adolescence . Time has also been spent in the Year 9 Adventurers Program ( three years ), assisting boys with their English as part of the Centre for Learning Tutoring Program ( two years ), and honing boys ’ agility as part of the Debaters ’ Association of Victoria Debating Program ( four years ). With table tennis bat in hand , Jamie has guided boys to read spin and improve their flicks and pushes .
Jamie has brought a love of literature and its founding stories into the lives of Scotch boys and their journeys will be richer , and more complex , for it .
CLAIRE MURRAY
Appointed to the School ’ s Educational Support Unit at the start of Term 3 , 2015 Claire Murray worked closely with school psychologists , parents and teachers from all learning departments to develop individualised programs and provide learning support for boys with a range of learning difficulties . In so doing , Claire created and shared learning materials with colleagues to better support the learning of boys .
As Year 7 and Year 8 Academic Support Coordinator , Claire worked with boys individually , in small groups and during classes to develop their knowledge , skills , independence and confidence , while also ensuring smooth transition from Year 6 to Year 7 . Claire also taught English and English Workshop , created curriculum for the workshop classes and supported boys in the Centre for Learning Study Hall classes . Claire was generous with time and talent , providing support to boys in Years 7-12 accessing the Centre for Learning after school tutoring program , assisting with the running of the Years 7 and 8 Games Club , coaching tennis and attending Years 7 and 8 camps .
PAUL REDFERN
Driver / Storeman was Paul Redfern ’ s role when he started at Scotch in July 2007 . Based in the Lithgow Building , Paul quickly made the role his own , demonstrating an unfailing work ethic and commitment to the cause . In 2010 , Paul took responsibility for all school vehicles , and took charge of the many bookings for camps and excursions , driving boys and teachers across greater Melbourne and Victoria with dedication and care .
Working with a range of outside organisations , Paul was instrumental in improving processes for bookings and invoices , played a critical role in ensuring the School ’ s compliance with vehicle registrations , and ensured all vehicles were suitable to the needs of the School .
Paul worked hard in the Cadet Unit , managing casual drivers and storemen with kind willingness . His social nature and ability to get along with all he worked with are his hallmarks , along with the Demons ’ beanie he wore every winter . Paul will be greatly missed for his friendship , collegiality and unfailing loyalty to his role and our School .

Commencing at Scotch in 2008 part time within the Maintenance Department , Alex Sciarretta was appointed on a contract basis in
