‘ BOYS – WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE ’

SCOTCH BOYS SPEAK OUT AGAINST VIOLENCE TOWARDS WOMEN
Denim Day – one of the longest-running worldwide sexual violence prevention and education campaigns – asks people in all walks of life to make a statement by wearing jeans on this day , to protest against violence towards women , and the myths and misconceptions surrounding sexual violence .
At Scotch , boys and staff were encouraged to wear jeans on Denim Day 2021 – Wednesday 28 April – to show their support for the campaign , and to contribute to You Matter , a local not-for-profit organisation assisting women and children fleeing from violent , abusive homes .
There were two Denim Day speeches at Assemblies . The first was by Luke O ’ Brien ( Year 12 ) on 26 April , bringing Denim Day powerfully to the boys ’ attention , and the second was by Year 11 boys Bailey Balot and Will Hucker on the day itself , 28 April .
