in Melbourne . Daughter Caitlin , is in real estate in San Remo , and younger son , Jarrod , works for the Clean Energy Council . Allan said : ‘ Karen has retired , and we have discovered that grandchildren are great fun . Life is good !’
After graduating as a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in 1972 from Melbourne University , PETER RODECK (’ 68 ) worked for the next 10 years in Melbourne in various engineering companies before moving to Warwick in southern Queensland in 1982 . At Warwick , he started Environdata , an electronics and software company . Peter is now the owner and sole Director of Environdata , which has 12 staff and provides professional grade weather recording equipment and services to Australian and overseas clients .
In 1986 , Peter married Glennis Edwards and they brought up Glennis ’ two children , Ferne and Brooke . Peter and Glennis still live in Warwick , where they tend their large 1.2ha garden . He takes a keen interest in community organisations : over the years , he has been President of the local BMX and pony clubs , Chairman of Warwick Safe City , and is now President Elect of the Rotary Club of Warwick Sunrise . He also enjoys yoga .

1970s

After leaving Scotch , RHOSS MACKENZIE (’ 73 ) completed a four-year course in Interior Design in the School of Architecture at RMIT . After that he worked in Melbourne as an interior designer for a Sydney-based firm specialising in pharmacy design . When the company closed its
Melbourne office , Rhoss set up his own design company – Rhomac Design – in Brighton , specialising in pharmacy and medical centre design .
In 1990 Rhoss took two years off to travel the world , eventually settling in London for a year , with many visits to French Polynesia as well . ‘ I retired three years ago following a heart attack – all good now !’ Rhoss told Great Scot . ‘ I have now relocated full time to my house in Cape Paterson with my partner Garry , whom I have been with for 36 years ,’ he said . ‘ COVID has stalled our travels , but a new motorhome is waiting for extensive Oz travels in the near future ’.
CRAIG DRUMMOND (’ 78 ) has been appointed President of AFL club Geelong . Craig has been a club director since 2011 , and is a member of the club ’ s finance and audit committee . In business life he is Chief Executive Officer of Medibank Private Limited , and he has had more than 30 years ’ experience in the financial sector . Craig is just the third President the club has had since 1999 . He takes over the role from Frank Costa , who was preceded by Colin Carter .

MATTHEW SNAPE (’ 86 ) is a member of the team of scientists at the University of Oxford which has developed the Oxford / AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine . Matthew is an Associate Professor in Paediatrics and Vaccinology at the Oxford Vaccine Group . He is also a general paediatrician at the Children ’ s Hospital , Oxford .
Matthew has spent 20 years helping to develop vaccines for some of the world ’ s deadliest diseases , including bird flu ( 2005 ), swine flu ( 2009 ), ebola ( 2015 ) and now coronavirus .
Interviewed on Channel 9 ’ s 60 Minutes program in February , Matthew said : ‘ We ’ re living through history , and a successful rollout of the vaccination would be an extraordinary achievement – one of humanity ’ s greatest achievements … There has not been a lot of time away from work , but I think that ’ s been countered by the excitement of being involved in such an important story , one that will define this age . To be a part of trying to solve this terrible challenge that we have at the moment is profoundly satisfying .’ Matthew was also interviewed on ABC TV during March .
Having studied Law-Commerce at Melbourne University while a Trinity College resident , JAMES MURRAY (’ 89 ) afterwards completed a Master of Laws degree at Monash University . He is now a partner at a New York headquartered law firm , Milbank LLP , and leads the firm ’ s project development and finance practice for South- East Asia , practising both New York and English law . Together with his wife Katherine , James has four children – Sam ( 16 ), Alice ( 14 ), Philippa ( 12 ) and Angus ( 10 ).
James and his family returned to Melbourne in 2019 after 13 years in Singapore and more than 20 years overseas . His boys ( Sam Year 11 , Angus Year 4 ) are enjoying Scotch and the girls are at Lauriston , including one at the Howqua campus this year .
