STRONG PERFORMANCE BY THE BOAT CLUB

RETURN TO NAGAMBIE – AT LAST 1 .

After the cancellation of the 2020 Head of the River broke 152 years of continuous competition , racing resumed at Nagambie on Saturday 20 March for the 153rd Victorian Head of the River .
On a day when racing was conducted into a difficult crosswind that increased in strength as the day wore on , the Scotch College Boat Club was able to produce some strong performances .
These were headlined by the 2nd VIII , which won the A final of the second division in a time of 6.14.49 . After some close racing over the first 500m , the crew fought hard to gain an advantage over the field . Over the second thousand the crew extended their lead to finish over a boat length ahead of second-placed Melbourne Grammar School , with Geelong College finishing in third place .
The crew consisted of Angus McClusky ( coxswain ), George Burney ( stroke ), Maxim Jeremijenko , Hamish Paine , Archie Abbott , Nik Tsourvakas , Joshua McLeod , Archie Clunies-Ross , and Thomas Genovese in bow . The crew was coached by Archie Gill (’ 20 ).
The 3rd VIII also recorded a wonderful victory in the school eight division three . In a close race , the crew held off a fast finishing St Kevin ’ s College by around two-thirds of a length , with Brighton Grammar School a further half-length behind in third place . The crew was Maxwell Findlay ( coxswain ), Sam Pritchard ( stroke ), Jake Maycock , Charlie Green , Benjamin Simon , Christopher Louzis , Lachie Finster , Sebastian Kritikides and Theodore Dryden . The Coach was Harry Gill (’ 18 ).
