Our boys took to the fields , courts and water in the summer season with a renewed appreciation of sport . The enthusiasm to train and play has been obvious , with a genuine sense of excitement evidenced by the smiles on the boys ’ faces as they competed each week . Hand sanitiser , disinfectant and QR coding have been reminders of the impact of COVID-19 , but despite the week of lockdown , the season mostly avoided interruption .
Our new sports uniforms , with their vibrant tricolour designs in cardinal , gold and blue , made a significant splash on our sports fields .
While we all consider ourselves to be lucky just to be playing at all , our boys performed exceptionally during the summer season . Although no official fixtures took place in Term 4 2020 , the APS and other sporting associations in which we play did an excellent job
in improvising a full set of fixtures for the boys . Examples included Friday night games of twenty20 cricket and quickfire tennis ; and their success will lead to discussion about what is the best future competition format .
The most significant achievement in the summer season was the 1st Tennis team delivering the second APS tennis premiership in three years , after a previous gap of 30 years . Our boys worked extremely hard throughout the season , and despite a strong challenge from Caulfield Grammar School , found a way to emerge as premiers .
Jack Ganly ( Year 11 ) won all of his singles games , while Alexander Taylor , Thomas Patton and Charlie Sinclair ( all of Year 12 ) performed exceptionally , along with the rest of the team . The tennis
