DISTINGUISHED SERVICE MEDAL – LT COL GREGORY VIVIAN GILBERT ( RETD )
Congratulations to past Scotch parent , Lieutenant Colonel Gregory Vivian Gilbert DSM ( retd ), who recently received a Distinguished Service Medal from the Governor-General for his part in the Battle of Nui Le , in Vietnam in 1971 , the last major battle fought by Australian and New Zealand forces in South Vietnam .
The award was made ‘ for distinguished leadership in warlike operations as Forward Observer , 12th Field Regiment attached to Delta Company , 4th Battalion , the Royal Australian Regiment , in Vietnam , 21 September 1971 ’.
Mr Gilbert ’ s son , Lars , attended Scotch from 1987 to 1985 .
