REMARKABLE RESULTS IN GERMAN POETRY COMPETITION

Scotch boys performed outstandingly at almost every year level
Although the pandemic has physically separated us all , German students at Scotch have strived to adapt to the new environment with much success . With the help of the German teachers , Scotch students performed outstandingly in the Association of German Teachers of Victoria ’ s poetry competition , with placegetters in nearly every year level for both the regional and state finals .
For the regional competition , William Wang ( Year 4 ) was first , followed by Noah Stamoulis ( Year 4 ), second . Matthew Chen ( Year 5 ) achieved third for his year level , and the prize winners for Year 7 were all Scotch boys – Jamie Chang , first , Samarth Gupta , second , and Witter Onggara , third . Geoff Liu attained first for Year 8 , and Ashwin Appu won first and Christopher O ' Connell came equal third for the Year 9s .
All students who won either first or second prize from Year 5 upwards were eligible to participate in the state finals – Samarth Gupta came first and Jamie Chang came fifth for the Year 7s and Geoff Liu came first for the Year 8s .
I ' m sure that all of the hardworking students were in no small part assisted by their studious German teachers , who not only helped the students in their preparations , but worked tirelessly to continue to make German class enjoyable and interesting through the new online medium . Scotch ' s remarkable results in the poetry competition are testament to the diligent nature of Scotch students and teachers alike .
Let ’ s hope that we will soon be reunited once again in the Language Building , eating Lebkuchen and baking Brezeln .
