long involvement with CA ANZ , David has worked as a regional councillor , as Chair of the body ’ s Victorian Regional Council , and as Victorian representative on CA ANZ ’ s national council .
In the community , David has served on the advisory boards of McKenzie Aged Care Group Pty Ltd , the Foundation for Very Special Kids and the Marcus Oldham Foundation , and also on many boards , including Cancer Council Victoria , Freemasons Foundation Victoria Limited , Family Business Consultants Network Pty Ltd , and as principal financial adviser to a range of family businesses . In normal times , David enjoys music , particularly musical theatre , boating and bay fishing , and Australian outback travel .
RICHARD PUGSLEY (’ 68 ) studied architecture at Melbourne University , graduating in 1975 , and worked with the Victorian Public Works Department , before heading to the UK , where he worked in a private architectural practice in London . He thoroughly enjoyed his work and the opportunities to travel in the UK and Europe . Throughout the 1990s his work was widely varied , including major construction projects at Wormwood Scrubs prison , and at Heathrow Airport . Changing direction during the 2000s , Richard spent 15 years with PwC as a project manager for office accommodation projects .
In 2015 Richard married his long-term partner Patrick Persaud in England , and he is now Administrative Director in Patrick ’ s personal styling and image consultancy , Apogee Image Consultants , which is based in London and Melbourne . This has been ‘ quite an eye-opener ’, Richard told Great Scot . ‘ For the future ,’ he said , ‘ we hope to spend more
time in Australia and make the most of the privileges which dual residency allows ’.

1970s

After graduating with a business accounting degree from RMIT , ANTHONY HENDRY (’ 78 ) moved to the Gold Coast in 1987 where he still lives . He said , ‘ Sitting on the cold red rattler train from Lilydale to Scotch every day convinced me that I was better suited to warmer climates ’.
Anthony has predominantly worked in chief financial officer roles in the health industry , most recently as a contract CFO for Northern Territory Health in Darwin – although it was too much of a good thing when it came to warmer climates : ‘ hottest place I have ever been ’. He is currently working in contract / consulting roles , including as independent financial adviser for the Alice Spring Hospital . Married to Bridgette , he has two children , Alex and Ben , from his previous marriage . He says Scotch brings back many good memories : ‘ I still have a number of mates from my school days .’
WARREN REID (’ 78 ) lives at North Ringwood with his wife Wendy and children , James and Jessica , who are now young adults . Warren has worked as a defence scientist for more than 37 years and is contemplating retirement in the next few years .
He told Great Scot : ‘ In retirement I hope to spend a lot more time house renovating and travelling the world , although who knows what that means in the future ! I ’ d also like to spend more time attending to my classic sports and racing car collection , and catch up with 1978 Scotch classmates ANDREW CARRA and ROSS JACKSON at car club and historic racing events .’ He also
enjoys meeting BILL WATKINS (‘ 78 ) every New Year ’ s Eve , and at Richmond ’ s games against Bill ’ s Western Bulldogs .

1980s

PROFESSOR MICHAEL COOTE (’ 80 ), an ophthalmologist , runs an academic ophthalmology practice in Melbourne opposite the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital . Formerly Clinical Director of Ophthalmology at the hospital , he is currently Board Director at St Vincent ’ s Health Australia and chairs the research and education sub-committee . Michael has conducted a long-established research program into glaucoma surgery , and he co-founded a start-up in medical design . He is also a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne and serves on the board of the International Society for Glaucoma Surgery .
Michael is married , and he and his wife , Felicity , have four children . Their three sons are studying medicine and their daughter is still at school .
ANDREW CATFORD (‘ 89 ) has led international development programs around the world , including emergency responses to tsunamis in the Pacific , interventions to eradicate malnutrition in Sub-Saharan Africa , and innovative approaches to combat gender-based violence in Asia . This included 16 years with World Vision as a National Director . In Senegal , he was pivotal in advocating for the establishment of the first Ministry of Child Protection and to raise the legal age of marriage to better protect vulnerable girls . He holds a PhD from RMIT and also lectured in the Masters of International Development there .
