below . Other achievements of note by the boys include Geoff Liu ( Year 8 ), who performed at Carnegie Hall last year and achieved the first prize in the highest category ( 21 and under ) of the Monash Youth Music Festival .
Leon Fei ( Year 10 ) won the Melbourne Recital Centre ’ s Bach competition ( a major distinction ), and was also one of three finalists in the National Youth Concerto Competition . Sadly , the final , due to take place in Queensland , was cancelled due to the virus .
Christian Li ( Year 7 ) was signed by Decca records in London , and released a number of recordings . He also recorded Let It Go for an album called Disney Goes Classical , backed by the London Symphony Orchestra , no less ! Christian was interviewed on the BBC ’ s Radio 4 . He was due to perform two concertos with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra this year , as well as a number of concerts internationally . These , of course , have had to be postponed or cancelled .

(’ 19 ) – viola ( AMusA ) and musicology ( AMusA ); Tony Tang ( Year 12 ) – violin ( AMusA ); Nicholas Nolan (’ 19 ) – violin ( AMusA ); Jay Dingle ( Year 12 ) – pianoforte ( AMusA ) and oboe ( AMusA Dist .); Eric Yu ( Year 12 ) – horn ( AMusA ); Gabriel Chan ( Year 12 ) – cello ( LMusA ); Costa Kapouleas (’ 19 ) – guitar ( DipRSL ); Geoff Liu ( Year 8 ) – violin ( AMusA Dist .); Will McCann ( Year 11 ) – clarinet ( AMusA Dist .); Edward Song ( Year 9 ) – oboe ( AMusA ).
2020 : Alex Fan ( Year 12 ) – piano ( AMusA ); Nick Wang ( Year 12 ) – violin ( LMusA ); Eric Yu ( Year 12 ) – French horn ( LMusA ).
The number of performances cancelled in August alone makes for depressing reading ( the Choirs Concert , Bands Concert , Strings Concert , Chamber Music Dinner , Piano Festival , and , for early September , Music Camp and the Foundation Day Concert ). However , we live in hope that we may be able to present something for the Summer Prom and Carol Service in December .
