We love featuring fun, modern momma bloggers
raising smart, healthy families while making a dif-
ference in their communities. Natasha Nicholes,
founder and editor of housefulofnicholes.com,
is at the forefront of modern mommy-hood and
doing at all with love for her family and commu-
nity. Below she gives us a glimpse into her busy
family’s life and some sage advice on how to make
a transition to homeschooling for those parents
considering making the lifestyle change.
GEM: Tell us a bit about yourself. When and why
did you start blogging?
Natasha: I’m a married mom of four children
aged 6 (twins) to 17. Two boys and two girls, so
we’re completely even in this house, unless you
count our dog, who’s a boy. So, family votes get
a bit tricky here. I started blogging when I found
out that I was pregnant with my twins, and didn’t
see a space represented by people that looked or
lived like me. So I started it, and now, 7 years later,
I realize that there are a ton of blogs out there, and
people find you somehow.
GEM: Tell us about your family and kids.
Natasha: I have a 17 year old son, 8 year old daugh-
ter and 6 year old boy and girl twins. My oldest
two are both dancers, with my daughter complete-
ly looking up to her big brother who just came off
of a stint choreographing his school’s Dance For
Life program. This is his third year, and each year
he makes me more proud. He also just traveled to
Germany with his school, and I’m a bit jealous.
My twins are both very active as well, and the three
youngest will be starting swim classes in addition
to random craft/educational classes that they take

every month. Their talents include making me
laugh from my soul (all of them) and by far, they
are outpacing my husband by leaps and bounds,
and I love it.
GEM: What’s a typical day like in your home?
Natasha: A typical day starts with the alarms of
my husband and oldest son going off and wak-
ing me up. Which, then makes me wake them up
and I don’t do it in a nice way, I’m afraid to say.
Then, after sweeping the cobwebs from my brain,
I’ll make my coffee, and try to do blog work and
print off whatever we need for homeschooling
