You ’ d be forgiven for thinking the day was Insta-perfect for this gorgeous couple ( seriously , that gown ! That kilt !). But Mary reveals a few moments of hilarity . “ Probably when I tripped out of the helicopter when we landed back at the airport ,” she laughs . “ Or hearing Kate swooning expletives while photographing us because the light was so perfect that day !”
And how did they honeymoon ? “ Queenstown baby !” says Mary , noting they stayed at the Hillary A-Frame airbnb ( yes , there ’ s a family connection to Sir Edmund !). “ We ziplined across rivers in Glenorchy , did an off-road buggy tour in the hills , hiked Ben Lomond Track , raced each other on the luge , went horse riding around Lake Tekapo and sampled lots of cocktails in between .” The bonus ? “ By arriving a couple of days before , we were on our honeymoon before we even eloped ,” says Mary . “ We even had a couple ’ s massage the day before .”
And while they deployed a just-us policy , the newlyweds say their day has been garnering interest for its sublime location and stress-free vibe . “ Some married couples have seen our photos and said : I wish we did that ,” says Mary . “ So , if you ’ re considering a destination wedding , do it . You can always throw a big party later !”
