5. Add a traditional touch

Fire dancers. Monk blessings. Ocean arrivals. A dash of local magic will take your destination wedding to the next level. For her Koh Samui nuptials, Angela enjoyed a traditional long drum parade as part of her ceremony entrance. “It was very moving and certainly brought a tear to my eye!” she says. “I highly recommend it for other brides.” Fiji bride Amanda also enjoyed a memorable arrival. “I was carried to the ceremony on an authentic ceremonial chair by four burly Fijian warriors in traditional costume!” she says.

6. Capture the moment

“Get a great photographer and videographer to capture your special day — and also to include/show your loved ones who couldn’t be there,” say Nicole & Declan, who eloped to Port Douglas. A talented local photographer will know all the best backdrops and secret locations while a videographer will give you a precious insight you can always revisit — and share at the catch-up party back home.
