Even though an elopement can save you big bucks compared to a more traditional ceremony, you’ll still need to manage a budget.

Mandatory costs include outfits, wedding bands, plane tickets, transfers and accommodation, and your officiant/celebrant. We also highly recommend a professional photographer and videographer to capture every magic moment. An elopement video can also double as a wedding reveal for friends and family, announcing your surprise in a way that immediately shares the love.

Okay, so you’ve saved on your guest list, why not splurge on the finer details? It’s your wedding after all! Think pampering treatments, room upgrades, fancy meals and local touches for your ceremony (we love a traditional canoe arrival for South Pacific vows). A decadent or extended honeymoon is also a popular treat for eloping sweethearts.

Oh, and forget wedding registries or gifts. Even if you host a wedding ‘party’ back home (the perfect forum to share that slideshow) your guests are not expected to bring a gift and you’re not expected to supply wedding favours.

Top tip: Provided your photographer and videographer are over 18 years of age, they can double as the two witnesses legally required for your marriage!
