Home of the writer and lexicographer, Dr Samuel Johnson, who
compiled the first comprehensive dictionary on the top floor. Dr
Johnson’s House is a charming 300 year old townhouse, nestled
among a maze of alleys and courts in the historic heart of the City
of London.

Johnson was a great admirer of China, its history, architecture and
famously consumed copious amounts of Chinese tea. We exhibit
our collection of fine Chinese porcelain and welcome Chinese
visitors to discover the 18th century and one of its greatest men
