RESEARCH ARTICLE | Grassland carbon-water cycling is minimally impacted by a photovoltaic array
New paper on how agrivoltaic systems ( photovoltaic arrays combined with crop production ) can serve as a scalable way to expand solar energy production while maintaining ecosystem function in managed grasslands , especially in climates where water is more limiting than light .

RESEARCH ARTICLE | Soil organic carbon stocks potentially at risk of decline with organic farming expansion
Research looking at what the conversion of conventional to organic farming will have on soil carbon . A spatially explicit biogeochemical model showed that the complete conversion of global cropland to organic farming without the use of cover crops and plant residue will result in a decline in soil organic carbon stocks by 9 %. Besides these estimates , their results found that additional cropping practices , such as cover cropping could maintain or increase SOC stocks in organic systems .
