TC TRANSCONTINENTAL , CJ GRAPHICS AND CAMERON ADVERTISING BUY AGFA TAURO

Agfa Graphics ’ Jeti Tauro H3300 UV LED wide-format inkjet printer
TC Transcontinental , CJ Graphics and Cameron Advertising have become the first in Canada to install Agfa Graphics ’ new Jeti Tauro H3300 UV LED wideformat inkjet printer from Agfa Graphics Canada . Montreal ’ s TC Transcontinental , which becomes the first installation in North America , is a Canadian leader in flexible packaging and specialty media segments . Awardwinning CJ Graphics , in Mississauga , ON , also added an H3300 to cement its leadership in the wide-format sector . Cameron Advertising in Scarborough , ON , one of North America ’ s leading large-format and visual communication specialists , also purchased an H3300 .
Building on the successes of the Jeti Tauro H2500 LED , Agfa Graphics “ bigger , sturdier and faster ” Jeti Tauro H3300 UV LED flatbed guarantees smooth , detailed results and rapid UV LED curing , with LED lifespans of about 10,000 hours each . Those who need more automation can have fully automated multi-board loading and unloading of up to four boards . The H3300 ’ s ultra-fast roll-to-roll version is capable of handling heavy master rolls in single or dual-roll mode for a wide variety of flexible media . With a new vacuum table and Agfa-patented vacuum belt design , media is kept perfectly flat under the print shuttle , guaranteeing precise dot positioning and accurate media transport . Because of Agfa ’ s patented Thin Ink Layer technology , combined with Asanti workflow ’ s ink-saving algorithms and exceptional colour-management technology , “ ink consumption per square metre is the lowest on the market .” Agfa ’ s UV LED inks produce vibrant colour prints with a large colour gamut , while offering superior adhesion and durability . The H3300 can handle media up to 3.3 m wide at speeds up to 453 sq . metres per hour , can operate continuously 24 / 7 , and is convertible to enable different degrees of automation .

BATTLEFIELD PRESS ADDS OPTIMA DIE CUTTER

Battlefield Press , a family-owned full-service printer in Burlington , ON , founded in 1964 , has separated itself from its competitors by offering superior craftsmanship while delivering exceptional print quality , fast turnarounds and competitive pricing . To keep its demanding clients happy , it decided to add a new KBA-Iberica Optima 106 die cutter . “ Since we serve high-end customers , it was important for us to buy the best-made die cutter ,” said president Jerry Theoret . “ For us , that meant it had to be European-built .” Battlefield ’ s management team even traveled to KBA-Iberica ’ s factory in Barcelona , Spain . KBA-Iberica ’ s training team then came to Battlefield ’ s 45,000 sq . ft . facility to teach its operators how to use the new machine .
“ It ’ s allowing us to keep all of our jobs in-house and die-cut from 29.5 ” up to 41.5 ” press sheets ,” Theoret added . “ We ’ re also utilizing some of its special features – particularly its unique grip edge removal and its die cutting of clear plastic substrates .” The 106 can handle paper , cardboard , plastic and corrugated boards of up to 1.5 mm at faster running speeds . It ’ s also equipped with a grip-edge removal system with pneumatic clamps that fixes the wooden templates for optimal and secure positioning , while reducing makeready times . With this unique system ( only found on KBA-Iberica models ), more efficient removal of grip-edge trim is achieved on each job . “ A big part of our business is to produce very high quality work on diverse substrates , including clear plastic ,” said Theoret . “ We ’ re pleased that the Optima 106 also features an anti-static kit for the feeder head and table , providing us with improved performance when die-cutting plastic materials .”
