Premier Printing (Winnipeg) has invested in a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL-
106-4P Sheetfed Press and Heidelberg TH-82-P Stahlfolder with PFX feeder
from Heidelberg Canada. The press features AutoPlate Pro fully automated
plate loading (Premier performs up to 150 plate changes per day), Prinect Axis
Control Spectral measuring device, and dynamic sheet brakes. It’s driven by the
new Press Center XL featuring Intellistart 2 operating software, allowing for the
“autonomous” processing of jobs at speeds of 18,000 sph. The Stahlfolder has
doubled the amount of throughput in Premier’s finishing department. “This new
folder is a game-changer. The ease of operation, set-up and throughput is
amazing,” said Operations Manager Ted Gortemaker. Premier specializes in
school, college and university agendas. The new Speedmaster has filled the
gap for the 2/2 signatures that are typical in this market.
The OPP Head Office (Orillia, ON) has purchased a Triumph 7260 28” Hydraulic
Programmable Cutter with Air Beds from Toronto’s Print Digital Solutions (PDS).
The powerful cutter can slice through stacks of paper up to 3” thick. Cutting
widths range from 28’’ to ¾.’’ An electronic hand wheel makes manually con-
trolling the back gauge easy, and an IR safety curtain covers the work area to
prevent injuries. Easy Cut blade bars provide two-handed operation, and users
can replace the blades without removing the machine covers. The program-
mable back gauge stores up to 99 programs with up to 99 steps each. The
7260 also automatically corrects itself in case of back-gauge displacement. Its
digital display has a self-diagnostic system with error indication. The front and
rear air tables make trimming large sheets exceptionally easy.

Mr. Printer (Etobicoke, ON) has installed a Mohr 80 NET Paper Cutter, Morgana
Digifold PRO, Morgana AF System 2000 Bookletmaker with square fold unit,
Horizon BQ 140 Perfect Binder, and a Challenge EH3C Drill from print finishing
specialist Sydney Stone (Mississauga, ON). “With developing our new e-com-
merce website, we knew our finishing capabilities needed to be looked at to
ensure we can meet the demands and expectations of our client base,” said
Nabeela Anjum, Office Manager. “We now have the ability to do short, medium
and longer run booklet making. We’re now offering quick turnaround perfect-
binding jobs that we previously couldn’t do. And with the Digifold PRO Creaser/
Folder, we can offer a wide range of paper stocks for folding applications that
are full-colour, without any cracking.”
Xpression Num.Eric (Mascouche, QC), an industry leader in large format digital
printing specializing in exhibitions and tradeshow graphics, has invested in a
Seal 65v Pro MD Laminator from GBC Canada. Characterized as the “ultimate
laminator” for finishing professionals requiring a high production, versatile
laminator that can run both hot and cold applications, its design includes two
major technological breakthroughs in laminator performance: speed of thermal
encapsulation and its Easy Operator Interface (EOI). Other features include an
“unmatched” speed of 15 ft/min, and state-of-the-art roller and heating element
technology that enables it to run thermal applications nearly three times faster
than most competitive laminators. Common applications include POP, mounting
to substrates, tradeshow graphics, floor and window signage, decals, banners,
posters, vehicle wraps, encapsulation, etc.
