Installations The Reliable Printer installs a Challenge CMT 330TC Trimmer The Reliable Printer (Scarborough, ON) has installed a Challenge CMT 330TC three-knife trimmer, purchased from Canadian Printing Equipment (Winnipeg) and installed by Robert E. Thistle Graphic Arts Equipment (Toronto). The Reliable Printer is a complete printing centre specializing in a variety of services including printing, finishing, book printing and direct-marketing solutions. “The new trimmer will enable us to expand our book-printing services while making us much more efficient and reducing turnaround times,” said owner Zohrab Sarkissian. “It’s part of our ongoing commitment to invest in the best equipment on the market to continue to meet client demands and offer new services.” The Challenge CMT 330TC has expanded the shop’s capabilities to cut landscape-formatted books up to 12.1” (307 mm) high by 12.9” (328 mm) wide, down to 5.875” (149 mm) high by 3.937” (100 mm) wide. The 330TC utilizes powerful hydraulic cutting and clamping pressure to cut up to a 2” (50.8 mm) thick book. Its servo and stepper motors accurately position books for cutting. Full digital control of the set-up allows book-size changes in less than six seconds. There’s also no need to perform manual adjustments or exchange book clamps. The CMT 330TC features exclusive simultan- eous inline and near-line feeding capabilities. This allows the trimmer to automatically switch between feeding books directly from an inline perfect binder, or from a manually loaded near-line book pile feeder. If one system is waiting for the next book, the other system can feed the trimmer for maximum throughput. Zohrab Sarkissian, owner of The Reliable Printer, beside his new Challenge CMT 330TC Trimmer.
