Delphax Technologies Canada (Mississauga, ON) was put
into an Ontario-court-ordered bankruptcy. The manufacturer
of its flagship Elan 500 inkjet press was put into bankruptcy
by Air T Inc., based in Maiden, NC, as the only secured creditor
for about $5 million. Air T subsequently completed a fore-
closure on all personal property of Delphax Canada.
Leading Quebec printer Précigrafik Group (Sherbrooke, Que-
bec) installed the first HP Indigo 7900 Digital Press in Canada.
Since installing the press, the company has nearly doubled
its colour print production capacity.
Canadian print-finishing specialist Sydney Stone (Mississauga,
ON) acquired Vertex Graphic and Business Equipment of
Vancouver, BC, expanding its products and services into a
major market. Grimco opened a new office in Edmonton, AB.
Grimco Canada has locations in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto,
Montreal and Dartmouth, and is a wholly owned subsidiary
of Grimco Inc., based in St. Louis, MO.
Print 17’s return to Chicago was a resounding success and
featured over 50 educational sessions. Graph Expo will be held
at McCormick Place in Chicago for the next three years – Sept.
30-Oct. 3 in 2018, Oct. 13-16 in 2019, and Oct. 4-7 in 2020.
C.J. Graphics, Friesens, Pollard Banknote and PrintWest earned
Benny Awards in the PIA’s 68th Annual Premier Print Competi-
tion. Over 2,200 entries from eight countries were judged.
ArifiQ released its Large Scale Estimating Module, capable of
delivering hundreds of estimates in only a few minutes.
The Digital Imaging Association (DIA, Toronto) celebrated 30

Flexa’s print-finishing solutions in Canada.
Prime Data expanded and centralized its production, IT and
administration in a new building in Aurora, ON.
Fastsigns signed four franchise agreements to add new loca-
tions in Calgary, Winnipeg and Oshawa.
The intelliFLEX Innovation Alliance became the new name and
new brand identity of the Canadian Printable Electronics Indus-
try Association (CPEIA, Ottawa), better reflecting the diverse
nature of the technology and applications for printable, flexible,
wearable and hybrid electronics.

Landa marked nanography’s worldwide commercial rollout
with the release of its Landa S10 Nanographic Printing Press.
Benny Landa hosted over 100 of the world’s leading print and
packaging houses at its facilities in Rehovot, Israel. Attendees
then toured nearby Graphica Bezalel, the initial beta site for
the Landa S10.
Creative Path (Richmond Hill, ON) formed a new division called
Abra PrintFX, after installing an MGI JETvarnish 3DS Twin-
Head Inkjet System with iFoil and Artificial Intelligence
Scanning (AIS) – a first in North America – from Konica Minolta
Canada. AIS scans each sheet, then instantly adjusts the spot
UV to compensate for any distortion.
