The Salvation Army Family Life Center Success Stories-ESG-Covid Funding

The Salvation Army Family Life Center ( FLC ) is a residential program that serves families currently experiencing homelessness . The FLC is a transitional living program that provides assistance for up to six months and works with families break the cycle of poverty and regain self-sufficiency . For the past 16 years , the FLC have successfully managed ESG funding . In 2020 the program received CARES Act funding from the City of Arlington , which allowed for the expansion of our homelessness services to include Rapid Rehousing ( RRH ). All ESG-CVs from the City funds was spent before the term ended on proposed shelter and RRH services to our community .
As the program helps resident families regain their self-sufficiency by providing them with private sleeping accommodations , hot meals , and various supportive services , we are also interested in making sure that the environment and services are conducive to meet the needs of the clients . Therefore , we are pleased to present that some of the ESG-CV2 funds was used to remodel and furnish 15 dorms in the facility and fully furnished an additional room , totaling the rooms to 16 private rooms to meet the growing needs of the homeless community . With this additional room , the FLC anticipates providing services to about 41 households , to include 45 adults and 100 children , totaling about 145 unduplicated homeless individuals . Every furniture in each room was replaced with new ones and additional ones to accommodate the needs of the families . Each room is equipped with beds , desks , tables , chairs , and drawers . Two of the bathrooms were also remodeled to meet ADA compliance .
Some of the ESG-CV2 fund was also used to purchase supplies for the families , supplies for skills training , furniture , and other items to furnish the Bright space ( family lounge ) for used by the families and kids . The FLC lobby was also furnished with chairs and tables for clients and guests use . Our organization remains grateful to the City of Arlington for providing these funds that enabled us provide services to meet the needs of many homeless families in the community .
