Itinerary
DAY 1 • Depart U. S. Begin your international journey today. If you’ d like to break up your flying time, consider an optional overnight stay in Los Angeles.
DAY 2 • Continue international travel You lose a day as you cross the International Date Line, and gain it back upon your return home.
DAY 3 • Arrive in Australia • Cairns Upon arrival in Sydney( or Brisbane, depending on your air routing), you’ ll be met by a Grand Circle representative who will assist with your transfer to Cairns. At the hotel, meet your fellow travelers, including those who took our Melbourne & the Outback pre-trip extension.

DAY 4 • Cairns • Hartley’ s Crocodile Adventures Today, enjoy an up-close visit with crocodiles, koalas, and kangaroos at a working crocodile farm located in the Australian Bush. You’ ll have the opportunity to meet a koala, handfeed kangaroos in a private enclosure, and watch the crocs at feeding time. You’ ll take a boat cruise on Hartley’ s Lagoon, a natural habitat for the saltwater crocodile, and then enjoy an included lunch. A behind-the-scenes tour of the park will provide you with an informative and entertaining experience with the region’ s rich array of wildlife and the keepers who care for it.

DAY 5 • Cairns • Optional tours • Outer Great Barrier Reef tour This morning, you’ ll have the option to rise early for a sunrise balloon ride above the Atherton Tablelands, a lush tableau of rain forests, mountains, and lakes. Then, rejoin the rest of your fellow travelers and board a catamaran to the Outer Great Barrier Reef. Here, you may choose to join an optional helicopter ride above the waters. Then enjoy an included tour which showcases the underwater wonderland that is the Great Barrier Reef from a pontoon-style observation post, your base of discoveries from which you may swim, snorkel, or probe the depths in a semi-submersible vehicle.

DAY 6 • Cairns • Optional Pamagirri Experience, Kuranda Village & Skyrail Tour • Aboriginals Today conversation

Today, you might choose an optional tour to witness a Pamagirri Aboriginal dance performance, visit Kuranda Village, and take a Skyrail ride above the jungle canopy. Or set your own agenda in Cairns. A speaker with strong
ties to the local Aboriginal people leads an Aborigines Today Exclusive Discovery Series discussion this afternoon. This evening, enjoy a second Exclusive Discovery Series event when you visit the Cairns branch of the Returned Services League, which supports veterans and members of the armed forces. Enjoy dinner with members of this group.

DAY 7 • Cairns • Fly to Sydney This morning, you’ ll fly to Sydney, arriving in the late afternoon.

DAY 8 • Sydney • Opera House Begin your day with explorations of Sydney, including a visit to Mrs. Macquarie’ s Chair, a bench cut into a sandstone rock formation, for panoramic views of the harbor, followed by a guided tour of the Opera House, Sydney’ s signature landmark. Then, enjoy an included lunch at Sydney’ s iconic Bondi Beach.
