Itinerary
DAY 1 • Arrive Fairbanks, Alaska Fly to Fairbanks, Alaska from your home state where you’ ll join the group, including those who traveled on our Juneau, Alaska pre-trip extension. This modern frontier settlement still retains much of its Wild West Gold Rush flavor. Gold dredges and mining camps speckle its outlying areas. Tom Sawyer paddlewheelers still ply the river, sleddog teams scamper through the long winter nights, and follies-style revues are a nightly occurrence in saloons and at the Alaskaland pioneer village.

DAY 2 • Fairbanks • Gold Rush experience • Trans-Alaskan Pipeline • Visit the Museum of the North Following a Welcome Briefing, visit the Museum of the North, with its many exhibits on Native Alaskan cultures and art, natural wonders, wildlife and even dinosaur fossils discovered in the Arctic. Afterwards, discover the engineering feat of the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline. We’ ll also meet family of a former gold miner and learn how to pan for gold in an Exclusive Discovery Series event. Later, gather for a Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 3 • Nenana • Transfer to Denali National Park This morning, we’ ll explore Nenana, an authentic log cabin town, before continuing on our journey to Denali National Park. Along the way, we’ ll stop for lunch and arrive to Denali by the late afternoon. Meals: B, L | Grand Denali Lodge or similar
DAY 4 • Denali National Park Embark on a 6-hour exploration of Denali National Park aboard a vintage school bus after breakfast. Enjoy insights from a local guide, spotting wildlife like caribou, Dall sheep, moose, grizzly bears, and wolves against the stunning backdrop of Mount Denali.

DAY 5 • Denali National Park • Sled dog kennel • Talkeetna Attend an Exclusive Discovery Series event at a local kennel to meet a dog musher, discover sled dogs and the Iditarod competition. Later, catch a train to Talkeetna from Denali Park Depot.

DAY 6 • Talkeetna • Northern Lights conversation • Optional Denali Experience Flightseeing tour • Jet boat ride Begin today with an Exclusive Discovery Series conversation in your hotel with a local Northern Lights photographer. Then, stroll along the shores of the Susitna River where— weather permitting— you may see Denali Mountain’ s peak. After, visit the Talkeetna Historical Society’ s museum
