DAY 9 • York & York Minster • Local lunch Today, you’ ll explore York, a city that has played a central role in British history— under the Romans, Saxons, and Vikings— for nearly 2,000 years. On an included walking tour, admire York Minster Cathedral, site of the world’ s largest expanse of medieval stained glass, and the city’ s historic walls. DAY 10 • York • Optional Whitby & Castle Howard tour Discover the wonders of York on your own today. Or, join us on a full-day optional tour to the charming coastal town and former whaling port of Whitby. Continue on to Castle Howard, one of England’ s finest stately homes.

DAY 11 • York • Lake District National Park Depart for the Lake District, home to 16 major lakes set amidst the most mountainous region of England. DAY 12 • Lake District • Lakeland Farm visit and sheepdog demonstration Spend the morning at Lakeland Farm, where you’ ll learn how they train sheepdogs and see a live demonstration. After admiring views of the wooded shores, island coves, and splendid estates, you’ ll return to Bowness for some time at leisure. DAY 13 • Lake District • Edinburgh, Scotland Depart for Edinburgh, enjoying an included lunch along the way, and passing through Gretna Green, a small border village famous as a site for eloping couples. You will arrive in Edinburgh by late afternoon and check into your hotel.
