DAY 8 • Nîmes Uncover the“ French Rome” today as you explore the city of Nîmes. Home to some of Europe’ s most impressive Roman ruins, Nîmes boasts at its heart a massive Roman Amphitheatre. DAY 9 • Avignon • Optional Pont du Gard tour Marvel at Avignon, known as the“ City of Popes,” on a morning walking tour including the Palace of the Popes. DAY 13 • Toulouse In the company of a local guide, you’ ll take in the city on foot during a walking tour. Highlights include a visit to the historic Victor Hugo Market and Basilica of Saint-Sernin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and national monument that dates back to the twelfth century.
