Favrot Student Union Board
to sponsor activities, auditions
The Favrot Student Union Board is releasing its schedule
of activities for the months of March and April.
If you are interested in being an opening act in the 2016
Tiger Fest concert to be held on April 14 please bring your
CD to office 221 in the Favrot Student Union or mail it to
Grambling State University, Favrot Student Union Board,
403 Main St. – Campus Box 4234, Grambling, LA 71245.
Deadline to submit is March 17. This is open to the public.
However, enrolled students must not have a judicial record
within the past year.
Upcoming events will include student choice awards
nominations on February 29 and the annual calendar girl
pageant on March 12. Tiger Fest is scheduled for April 1015.
Student Government Association
announces schedule for meetings
The Grambling State University Student Government
Association officials are encouraging students to attend the
monthly general student body meeting. The next general
student body meetings are set March 17 and April 21. All
meetings are held in the Favrot Student Union Theater at 6
p.m.
The meetings are open not only to students, but faculty
and administration as well. For additional information or

Grambling’s Intramural Center to
offer additional operating hours
The Department of Recreation and Intramural Center is
now operating with new hours. The center open from 6 a.m.
to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on
Fridays, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays and closed on Saturdays.
Terry Lilly will teach aerobics from Mondays through
Thursday at 5:15 p.m. (step aerobics) and again at 8 p.m.
(dance aerobics). Yoga will also be held in the center on
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. with Capree
Bramel.
Grambling State University to
hold pre-housing on March 1
Pre-housing for fall 2016 will be held Monday, Feb. 29,
and Tuesday, March 1, in Grambling Hall Auditorium 8 a.m.
to 4 p.m. for students who want the same room.
For GSU students who want any room, pre-housing will
be held Wednesday and Thursday, March 2-3 from 8 a.m. to
4 p.m. at the Tiger Village Club house and on Friday, March
4, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Grambling Hall Auditorium.
Student Counseling and Wellness
Resource Center to host sessions
The Student Counseling and Wellness Resource Center
will be hosting Wellness Group every Tuesday from 11:15
a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through March 15. Sessions will be held
in the “Tiger Room” Student Counseling Center.

Earn Service Learning hours
for Social Research Club project
A Service Learning Black History project sponsored by
the Social Research Club, Pi Gamma Mu and BEAP will be
held Today from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. The service project
will continue Friday, February 26 from 12 noon until 5 p.m.
The project is in honor of the 20th anniversary of BEAP
(Black empowerment apprentice Program).
Grambling organizations as well as individuals can
participate in the project by cleaning up, beautification and
research. Those involved will assist in the location of grave
sites of veterans and centurions for Grambling State University service credit.

Annual area and city to kick off
revival with Sunday night musical
The Annual Musical and the Dr. C P. Payne Area and
City Revival, sponsored by the Interdenominational Alliance
Ministries, will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. at the
New Hope Baptist Church, 301 W. Vaughn Ave. in Ruston,
Louisiana.
Revival services will be held Monday-Thursday, Feb.
29–March 3, with day and night services. Daytime services
will be held at the New Rocky Valley Baptist Church, 2155
Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Grambling, Louisiana,
where the Rev. Julius Sumler is pastor, beginning at 11:45
a.m. daily. Nighttime services will be held at the Zion Hill
Baptist Church, 505 Lee Ave. in Ruston.
St Luke’s Episcopal Church to
hold student Canterbury Assoc.
The Canterbury Association (The Student Ministry
of the church) will meet at 4 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal
Church, 538 Main St., Grambling. All students are welcome.
Refreshments will be served.
St. Luke’s Episcopal Chapel will hold its annual Celebration honoring the life of Absalom Jones on Sunday, March
6. The celebration will begin with the Eucharist Service at
10 a.m. followed by a luncheon. Both events will take place
at St. Luke’s church.
The speaker will be Rev. Kim Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia. She is a dynamic, inspiring and visionary person who
will share her thoughts on the theme for this occasion. Additional information will be forthcoming.

A tribute to style and grace

Grambling State University
as well as the community have
lost one of many legends. Mrs.
Mildred Gray Moss was a key
part of Grambling history.
Her name alone carries so
much weight because of her
contributions and the foundation she has placed in major aspects on Grambling’s campus.
Mrs. Moss was known for creating and teaching the famous
“etiquette course”.
It was a way to teach the
school’s athletes proper etiquette as they began to travel
across the country to play
games during the intense era
of segregation. At that particular time, African American
athletes faced many challenges
when traveling due to the color
of their skin.
Mrs. Moss saw an opportunity to better prepare her students for the tough real world
off of Grambling’s fields and
courts.
