A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO YOUR GRADUATION CEREMONY | 13 When it is your turn to go to the front of the Chapel to be conferred, the Ushers will ask you to stand and they will direct you to a corridor on the left-hand side of your seat. You will then be asked to move forward when your name is read out and the Chancellor/Vice-Chancellor/Deputy Vice-Chancellor will shake your hand. You will then walk along the aisle of the Chapel and return to your seat. Once all graduands have been conferred, the ceremony is declared closed. You will be asked to stand while the Chancellor/Vice-Chancellor/Deputy Vice-Chancellor, academics and dignitaries process out of the Chapel. You are then free to leave. A group photograph will be taken on the steps of the Chapel, just outside the marquee, with the Chancellor/ Vice-Chancellor/Deputy Vice-Chancellor, academics and dignitaries, and all your peers immediately after the ceremony.
